Like a fish in water!

Did you know ol’ Suschu almost made the OLYMPICS when she was a young’un? The way I like to remember it (because it happened to me like this in high-school) was that when Susi was a youth only six Berliners at a time were allowed to compete for olympic qualification. Though she was 6th fastest of all her peers, her coach (an avid competitor in her own right), was the mother to the 7th fastest swimmer on the team. Though it was completely unprecedented, that year swimmers #1-5 and #7 were invited to compete for qualification, leaving Susi on the moist bench. ”Did something like that actually happen to her?” Asks my wife Meagan, knitting by the fire. “No idea,” I answer, but she’s a hell of a swimmer. Ask her yourself.

Susi- This sucks! Your friends are on the same road, sooner than later, but to get hit on the head like that- horrible! We love you, and so much appreciate that we have been able to reconnect with you and your wonderful kids recently. HUGE hugs; if you can talk on the phone, let us know, and we’ll check in..
